  • There are more than 450 types of animals totalling about 4,500 on display at all times. You can also watch an exciting and funny sea lion show. They have animals from the sea, rivers, and lakes. The deep sea exhibits and the Amazonian capybaras are always popular. The exhibitions change throughout the year, and so do the animals. The cool atmosphere inside the aquarium is a great way to beat the summer heat and have a great time connecting with nature.

  • The Seaside Literary Memorial
  • The Seaside Literary Memorial (near the Gamagori station)
  • The memorial is dedicated to the author Yasunari Kawabata, recipient of the Nobel Prize for Literature, Kiichiro Hirano, who won the Akutagawa Prize, and Masamitsu Miyagitani from Gamagori City, who won the Naoki Prize. The memorial is near the "Tokiwa Kan" hotel, which many Japanese novelists from the 20th century used to love. You can also post letters to yourself that will be received 5, 7, or 10 years in the future.

  • Kaihinkan Marine Center House (around Gamagori station)
  • Originally, the Kaihinkan Marine Center House was built in 1927 as a hospital. Since then, it has been refurbished and now has the form of a large classical house. They have a restaurant, open terrace, and boardwalk, you can relax by while looking the ocean. At the south they have a cafe, at the entrance hall they have a sea exhibition room, and at the north they have a space for the yacht (sailboat) club members. Also they have a showroom for Mikawa textiles called “Yume Ori Bito."

  • Takeshima fantasy park is a theme park decorated by 55 million shells gathered from 110 places around the world. Mishell and Gamago, characters of this theme park, introduce you to the adventure in the deep ocean. There are 4 mini-theaters you can enjoy. The LED illumination invites you to their fantasy world made by beautiful lights, sounds, and images. It helps you to recognize how beautiful our earth is by adventuring in the deep ocean.
