  • This is the family temple of Hisamatsu Sadonogami Toshikatsu, who became a lord of Nishinogun, present Gamagori City after the triumph at the Uenogo-Jo battle in 1562. Toshikatsu was the second husband of Odai no Kata, the mother of Ieyasu Tokugawa, whose family ruled and unified Japan from 1604 until 1868.

  • Fujiwara Toshinari, who was the Provincial Governors of Mikawa, brought this temple from Takeo-jima on lake Biwa. It has been revered as a place of good luck, safe delivery, and match making for generations. In the book "Mikawa Suzume," it is said that this temple is known as one of the "Japan Shichifuku," (seven lucky spots) along with locations such as Enoshima Island, Takeojima Island, and Itsukushima Island.

  • It's been said that the chief priest at Hoda Temple found "Katahara Spa" 500 years ago, and this temple is believed to be protected supernaturally. At the temple they have statues of Yakushi Nyorai and the Buddhist goddess Kannon, which are held as cultural treasures. This area is also famous for its bounty of hydrangea, a plant that produces huge deep colored flowers. They can be seen all around the temple in June.
